Wachau Valley, Austria

Perhaps the most memorable afternoon on our cruise through Austria was our time in the Wachau Valley. Known as one of the best micro-climates in the world for raising world class grapes, wine from this valley is highly sought after. Vineyards stretch as far as your eye can see. The local economy is built around growing grapes and making wine. Look closely at this photo and you will see rows of grapes on every hill.
